The church which has a rich and proud history spanning over 150 years, serves as a spiritual home for a diverse and devoted community under the divine direction, wisdom and insight provided by God.

The journey began 150 years ago, continued with utmost dedication and commitment, which could provide a remarkable growth in every spiritual aspect of church community.

Today, the village of Welivita surrounded by rapidly developing communities of various ethnicities and religions, leads an increasingly multicultural and multi religious society.

We strive to be a beacon of hope, love, and compassion, serving the community and beyond, while preserving our rich heritage and traditions.

Message from parish priest

As we embark on our 150th jubilee year, I want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible journey that has brought us to this milestone. For a century and a half, St. Mary’s Church Welivita has been a beacon of faith, hope, and love in our community. We stand on the shoulders of devoted predecessors who built this sacred space, nurtured our community, and passed on the torch of faith to us.

As we celebrate this significant milestone, we give thanks for the unwavering commitment of our predecessors who laid the foundation of our faith. We remember the countless moments of joy, sorrow, and triumph that have shaped our community. We honor the legacy of our pastors, priests, and lay leaders who have guided us along the way.
